Phillip Mitchell

I’m a woodworker and furniture maker in the Boone, NC area. I have a background in custom woodworking/design, timber frame carpentry, and sustainable forestry. I’m the owner and craftsman at Stillwater Woodworks LLC, a one-man workshop focused on providing custom design and woodworking services to those who value high-quality construction details, clean and intentional design, and one-on-one client relationships.

I specialize in and accept high-end furniture commissions, interior woodworking projects, custom doors (entry, passage, etc) custom remodeling centered around woodworking/finish carpentry, ink relief wood prints, and custom art framing. I value the design process, planning, organization, efficiency, quality materials, traditional joinery, and the beauty in the simple and natural properties of wood.

I have lived in the Boone area since 2005 and have been building and creating in wood since 2012. I strive to design and create elegant spaces, furniture, woodwork, and art. I wake up every day eager to engage in the ongoing challenges along the journey of craft. It excites me that the journey never really ends; it has many forks, detours, and highways that help contribute to a life rich in beauty, satisfaction, and deep appreciation of the handmade.
